The Renault-backed series is slated to start at French Grand Prix weekend in April and will feature 12 teams in 24 races at 12 venues around the world, reports the BBC.

The competition is the next tier down from motorsport's flagship series, Formula One.

Qualifying will take place on the Friday of a Grand Prix weekend followed by a feature race on Saturday and a sprint race on Sunday.
