Harbin, capital city of northern province Heilongjiang, failed to make the shortlist for the 2010 Winter Games which will be held in Vancouver in February next year.
"Representatives from the administration will arrive in Harbin in a couple of days and evaluate the feasibility of the bid with local officials," said an unnamed official from the Harbin Sports Bureau, according to China View.
The official also said that the city of Changchun, in the neighboring Jilin province, also showed interest in the bid which needs to be put forward to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by October 15.
The IOC launched the bid process for the 2018 Games at the end of last month.
