After selling the pay-TV rights to ESPN International and Fox Sports Latin America, regional broadcasting consortium Organización de Telecomunicaciones Iberoamericanas (OTI) has been awarded the rights to both the Champions League and Europa League in Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay and Peru.
In addition, media rights to the two competitions have been granted to Meridiano in Venezuela, STVS in Suriname and Telecorporación Salvadoreña in El Salvador. The partners will broadcast live the top Wednesday Champions League match, the Champions League Final, the Super Cup, and the first pick of the week for the Europa League. They will also complement their coverage with a highlights programme every match week and all matches will also be available via mobile and internet in line with UEFA's platform neutral approach.
Referring to their new partners, UEFA said: “They will all ensure significant exposure is achieved throughout each territory and will therefore guarantee optimal access to UEFA club competitions for football fans in Latin America.” The media rights to the 2012-15 Champions League and Europa League in Brazil are being tendered separately, with bids due on August 31.
