Beane will be interviewed by Simon Kuper, Financial Times correspondent and author of Soccernomics, about the prominence and importance of statistics in sport. Beane, who famously picked undervalued hitters with a high on-base percentage to form his original team, will discuss such strategies in the context of the wider sporting world.
Beane turned the identification and recruitment of players into a science, famously charted in the bestselling book "Moneyball", which has recently been turned into a film and is set to be released in the United States this month. Confirmation of Beane's participation has coincided with organisers of the conference announcing a sell-out with more than two weeks to go.
The Leaders Sports Summit will represent a coming together of five leading conferences including Football, Sponsorship, Digital Sport and the Business of Horse Racing, over October 5-6 at the home of Barclays Premier League club Chelsea.
